NewTextMenu adds a practical right-click menu to macOS Finder: create text, Markdown, JSON, scripts, and open the current folder in Terminal or iTerm.

Configurable Templates

Enable file types, edit title, prefix, suffix, and executable mode from the app window.

Finder Right Click

Adds a top-level New File submenu to Finder context menus for the current folder.

Menu Bar Helper

Keep a small menu bar icon for quick create actions, Finder restart, and extension status.

Install

  1. Download and unzip NewTextMenu.zip.
  2. Move NewTextMenu.app to Applications if you want to keep it permanently.
  3. Open the app once, then click Enable Extension.
  4. If macOS asks for permission, allow it. Then right-click inside Finder and open New File.
